A drug is a chemical substance that affects your body in certain ways. Medicinal drugs are used to prevent and treat disease. Recreational drugs (some legal such as alcohol, some illegal such as cannabis) change the way you fell and can be highly addictive.
People take recreational drugs for the effects they have on the body and mind. Although legal, the nicotine in cigarettes and the alcohol in drinks such as beer and wine can cause serious harm to our health. Illegal drugs, such as cannabis (the most widely abused illegal drug in the world), cocaine and heroin can cause severe psychological as well as physical harm.
